From the Deputy Principal – Middle School
As Term 3 comes to a close, I want to recognize the incredible effort from both our teachers and students during what has been a very busy term. One of the highlights was definitely Yeronga Celebrates. However, my recent visits to classrooms have also shown me the excellent teaching and learning happening every day.
A key focus this year has been embedding a whole-school approach to teaching, which is part of our Annual Implementation Plan. It has been inspiring to see a wide variety of effective teaching strategies in action across all classrooms. Even more impressive is the high level of student engagement and their understanding of how to improve when asked—this reflects the hard work and dedication of our teachers.
Year 10 SET Plan Reviews – Reviewing Subject Contracts
Next week, as Term 3 report data becomes available, Ms Haswell-Smith and I will begin conducting SET Plan reviews with Year 10 students who signed subject contracts during the SET plan interviews. These contracts involve a commitment to improve their effort in certain subjects. The reviews will take place during Weeks 1 to 3 of next Term.
At the Year 10 assembly next week, I will encourage all students to carefully review their Term 3 results and revisit their SET plans, especially the Pathway Portfolio section. This part helps students explore the requirements for entering their chosen future pathways or careers.
Good luck to our Gala Day teams competing next week! Many thanks to the staff who have worked hard preparing the teams.
I wish all students and families a safe and relaxing Spring Vacation. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday, 7 October.
