Artists in English - Y-Connect
This term in Year 11 EAL, students have been preparing for the creation of a Dramatic Monologue in response to the play, Murras. Students were fortunate to have the expertise of Ngoc Phan, a multi award-winning actor, director, and playwright, working with them to enrich ideas, voice and tone of their monologues. Ngoc initially worked with each class separately and then collectively to create short monologues with activities that deepened their knowledge of characterisation embedding mood, tone and emotive language. As a result, students were effectively able to convey values, attitudes and beliefs within the context of the play and bring characters to life. It was heartwarming to watch student confidence grow as they collaborated, ultimately developing and delivering short spoken monologues to practise the techniques Ngoc shared in the workshop.
Ms Lundin and Ms Gibbons are looking forward to watching the final creations! Below are some images from the collaborative workshop.
