Professional Development Opportunity: 1-Week Spanish Course for Teachers at UNED Segovia – July 2025
This July, Yeronga State High School was represented internationally when Ms Anna Gibbons, one of our Humanities teachers and a member of the Spanish Immersion Program, attended a one-week intensive professional development course in Segovia, Spain.
The course, hosted by UNED - Spain’s largest public university - brought together teachers of Spanish and other subjects taught in Spanish from around the world. Led by renowned experts in Spanish language education and grammar pedagogy, the program focused on enhancing grammar teaching skills, exploring innovative didactic approaches, and integrating digital and lexicographic tools into classroom practice.
Throughout the week, Ms Gibbons had the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from across the globe, exchanging ideas and learning new strategies to enrich teaching and learning. This immersive experience not only deepened Ms Gibbon’s grammatical and technological knowledge but also provided access to the latest methodologies in Spanish language education.
The insights and skills gained from this professional development opportunity will directly benefit students at Yeronga State High School. Our Spanish Immersion students can look forward to even more engaging, dynamic, and globally connected learning experiences in the classroom.
We congratulate Ms Gibbons on this achievement and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on student learning at YSHS.
