The following students will be representing the Eastern Taipans team at Met West trials in early September. We wish them well in their individual events:
Met Wet Team
Congratulations to Lily McLaughlin who recently made the 13-14yrs Met West Girls Cricket team. Lily will represent Met West at National trials soon.
Speed and Agility Training
Students have been participating in a new weekly Speed and Agility training program this term, delivered by Athletix. All Yeronga students were invited to sign up, and there will be another opportunity to register next term.
So far in the program, students have focused on developing their speed and agility, combining practical drills with learning the theory behind how to improve these components. Through movement activities and games, they have applied this knowledge to see how speed and agility enhance performance, build confidence, and provide a competitive edge.
Women in Sport Summit
Next week, selected girls from the senior Athletes Academy classes will be attending the Women in Sport Summit 2025 Student Day. This is an event designed to inspire and empower high school students to explore diverse and innovative career pathways in the sports industry.
Students will be able to hear from industry leaders speaking about performance sports science, advocacy, technology, marketing and events. They will also discover both traditional and emerging pathways in women’s sport, encouraging students to dream big, think broadly, and be inspired in their future careers. Students will have the chance to meet mentors, industry professionals, and role models advocating for gender equality in sport and supporting their aspirations.
