Welcome to Term 3 – Celebrating Culture, Looking Ahead, and Building Learning Habits

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope all families had a restful break and that students are ready for another exciting term of learning and growth at Yeronga State High School.

Week 3 began with vibrant NAIDOC Week celebrations, as our First Nations students joined with local primary schools to honour the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through assemblies, workshops, and engaging lunchtime activities, students explored this year’s theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.” The theme acknowledges the strength passed down by Elders, the vision of emerging Indigenous leaders, and the enduring legacy across generations. These experiences offered students valuable opportunities to deepen their understanding and appreciation of First Nations perspectives.

There are several upcoming events on the school calendar for Years 7 and 8 students this term, including the Year 7 Humanities excursion, Science Week activities, and Arts Showcase performances. Keep an eye on the Yeronga SHS calendar and regular Compass updates to stay informed.

As students settle into the term, it’s also a great time to review homework and study techniques. Encourage regular, short study sessions, using tools like summary notes, practice questions, and concept maps. Creating a calm and consistent study space at home can support strong learning routines.

Looking to the future, enrolments for Year 7 in 2026 are now open. If you have siblings, family friends or community members considering Yeronga SHS, we encourage early enquiries to secure a place in our supportive and culturally rich school community. School tours and enrolment interviews are available—please contact our office for more details.
