Yeronga is a Screen and Media Gateway to Industry School. Essential Screen Skills delivers the Screen and Media Gateway to Industry School Program proudly supported and funded by the Queensland Government. The Screen and Media Gateway to Industry Schools project encourages partnerships between industry, government, schools and their communities to build Queensland's future Screen and media workforce. Because of our involvement with the Gateway program, some very fortunate Year 11 and 12s got to attend QUT for a select experience focused on Film, Technology and Design.

As part of this experience students worked collaboratively to film a scene in the state-of-the-art Virtual Production Studio, getting hands on with cameras, effects and props, they filmed a Jurassic Park like scene with live playback as actors, directors and camera people.

They then learnt about Production Design, creating worlds for screen in a hands-on environment creating and experimenting with real environments while learning key design concepts. This was a valuable experience, and I can’t wait to go back with more students next year.
