My Homestay Experience: Maka Sasao (Japan)
This is a recent positive experience from one of our homestay students, Maka Sasao.
About Me
I’ve stayed here since 23 January 2025, and I’ve been living with my host family for seven months. The purpose of coming here is not only to learn English, but also to understand diversity, which I cannot fully experience in Japan. Many friends and kind host families make me happy.
What I Enjoy About My Homestay Life
I live with my host father, host mother, host sister and another Chinese international student. My host parents are always thinking us, and they act for our future. My mother said to me, “I hope my host students living away from their family learn not only English but also become independent.”
They are busy every day, but they make time to chat with me and give me many opportunities. I like chatting, and I really enjoy it when my family, who are usually busy and rarely have time to gather, come together in the living room to talk.
A Memorable Day That Brings Me Joy
One of the unforgettable moments is my birthday party. They provided the place for the party and cooked a luxurious meal, also they helped me decorate the room! I haven’t held the birthday party like this before, so it made me happy, and it was a moment that deepened my appreciation for them.
