For students who have recently arrived in Australia and are learning English, starting school in Year 10 is a formidable challenge. The Australian Curriculum is designed for students who have English as their home language, and by Year 10, students are expected to demonstrate a wide range of vocabulary, grammar and text structures.

To support students who are developing their English language skills, we offer a Year 10 EAL/D Success Pathway, where students have the opportunity for double the number of English classes as well as targeted curriculum in other subject areas to prepare them for Senior schooling.

This term, like all Year 10 English students, the class is analysing the features of advertising, with a strong focus on the language of persuasion and the language of analysis. This includes nominal (noun) groups, so that students can describe the ad they will analyse, and then work on pronunciation and confidence in presenting in front of the class.
