Women’s Summit: Elevating the Future in 2025

On Wednesday 5 February, we had a successful Summit to gather student voice. Our guest speaker, Kathomi Gatwiri spoke to the students about their experience in in community. What it means to be a student in Brisbane and how our cultural and religious layers all intersect to create our identities. The students then had the opportunity to ask questions to a panel of speakers who were able to share their experiences with balancing all the different aspects of their lives. Finally students worked on what they want to learn more about this year in the Wednesday afternoon meetings. This year, we build upon the momentum gained from the summit, translating student ideas into actionable initiatives that will strengthen our community and empower individuals.

Summit Reflections: A Launchpad for Change

The summit provided a space for students to take ownership of the Hub’s direction, voicing their perspectives and co-designing initiatives that align with their needs. Through thoughtful discussion and collaboration, students identified key areas for growth and transformation, setting a dynamic course for the year ahead.

2025: Actions & Next Steps

Following the insights gained at the summit, we have established a set of key actions to guide our journey forward. These initiatives focus on fostering leadership, strengthening peer networks, and amplifying student voices in meaningful ways.

Some keys actions/ideas from the students:

  • Debates and podcasts on a range of topics
  • Learning to be assertive
  • Getting involved in community and volunteering
  • Mental health education

A Year of Growth & Impact

The theme Elevate continues to inspire us in 2025, reinforcing our commitment to lifting one another and ensuring that every student feels seen, heard, and empowered. We invite all students to engage, contribute, and be part of shaping a future where inclusivity, collaboration, and leadership thrive.

We look forward to another transformative year with the Women’s Hub and can’t wait to see the impact of the collective efforts of our amazing students.
